Community Investment Program - Special Event Assistance

The Board of Aldermen have approved a Special Event Assistance Policy for Community Events...
At the March 21, 2017 Board of Aldermen meeting a Community Investment Program for Special Event Funding Assistance was approved.  The  program was recommended by the Economic Development Committee to assist with existing or new events occurring  in Smithville. 

The City of Smithville encourages use of its facilities for the purpose of festivals and special events which affect the quality of life for our citizens. It is our intent to assist events to ensure that the organizer protects all citizens’ safety and that public funds are lawfully expended. This policy is necessary to guarantee these protections and to make each Special Event in our community a success.

Nothing in this policy should be used to interpret or expect that the EDC will decide to recommend fully expending all or any portion of the funding available.  The intent of the policy is to fund only those events that provide a positive impact on the community or economic development of the City.

Applications must be received at City Hall by 5:00 PM on April 17, 2017
