Meals on Wheels are available to those that live in the Smithville City limits. Meals are $3.35 each per day and are delivered Monday-Friday for lunch only. Meals are available to those that are considered home bound, elderly, disabled and to those that need short term meals due to a recent surgery and/or in need of a meal delivered to their home.
The Smithville Meals on Wheels Program requires an application form filled out stating the need for meals and for diet specifications for the recipient. Please return your application to Smithville City Hall, 107 W Main St., Smithville, MO 64089.
Meals are prepared by St. Luke’s Hospital Dietary Department daily and delivered by volunteers. City Hall is billed by the hospital for these meals monthly.
An invoice will be sent out the first of every month for the previous month. Payments are due by the 20th of each month. If you are unable to make your payment by the due date please contact the Meals on Wheels Coordinator to make payment arrangements or the meals will be discontinued. It is imperative that payments are made in a timely manner so that we can continue to offer these services to those that are unable to prepare their own meals. If you feel you need assistance paying for your meals you may apply for help with the Clay County Senior Services.
To cancel a meal, we will need notice by 9:00AM the day of the meal delivery, please call 816-532-7188. If you do not call, you will be charged for that day’s meal.
