About Winter and Sewer Averaging

When signing up for a utility account, you can elect to take the residential average for the City of Smithville.
If you decline winter sewer averaging on the utility application, the wastewater portion of your utility bill will be billed according to the amount of water used. 
For new home owners completing landscaping work, sodding, or other activities which include large amounts of water, signing up for winter sewer averaging is financially advantageous.

If you wish to forgo winter sewer averaging, you must elect to opt out each year. To do so, please contact City Hall at 816-532-3897. You must opt out prior to March 1 so you will be billed for your actual monthly usage for the billing cycles of March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November.
