GIS Data
What Information Is On The Map?
The website has a "layer list" on the left hand side of the screen that you can select the information you would like to view on the map. The City has the following layers:
Pavement Condition Index (PCI)
Pavement Condition Index rates the condition of the surface of a road network. The PCI provides a numerical rating for the condition of road segments within the road network, where 0 is the worst possible condition and 100 is the best. Our Streets Division staff rates City streets every two years to see the current condition of our road network and the rate of deterioration of the road network over time. The ratings allow for the city to implement a preventative maintenance strategy and allocate funds in the budget for road maintenance. PCI allows us to analyze our pavement materials and designs to see what is working better over time.
This layer is represented by different colors on the road network to reflect the scores of the street segment:
- Red (0-55)
- Orange (55-70)
- Yellow (70-85)
- Green (85-100)
Right of Way Work
When work occurs in the Right Of Way, staff will update the GIS layer to reflect what is occurring in the area. Some examples include: fiber installation in a neighborhood, a construction project, or a city repair.
Assessor Data
This data is obtained by Clay County, MO. You can view their GIS system at this website for more property owner information:https://gisweb.claycountymo.gov/
The yellow lines represent property boundaries. You can click on the property to see the address.
Zoning
Zoning is a method of urban planning in which a municipality or other tier of government divides land into areas called zones, each of which has a set of regulations for new development that differs from other zones. On the GIS, you can click this layer to see the zones throughout the City. If you click on the specific area, it will provide a link to the City Code to provide information on the regulations of that specific zone.
Wards
The governing body consists of the Mayor and six Board of Aldermen elected from three wards within the city. To find out what ward you are in, search your address and turn on this layer. When you click on the map it will show you the contact information for your ward.
National Flood Hazard Layer
The National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL) is a geospatial database that contains current effective flood hazard data. FEMA provides the flood hazard data to support the National Flood Insurance Program. You can use the information to better understand your level of flood risk and type of flooding.
Imagery
The City is a member of the Mid-America Regional Council, and takes part in the aerial imagery project for the region that occurs every two years. The imagery on the GIS map comes from that project.
