About Meals on Wheels

• Meals on Wheels are available to those that live within the City of Smithville municipal limits.
• Meals are priced at $3.35 each per day and are delivered Monday through Friday, for lunch only. Recipients may customize the days of the week they wish to receive meals.
• Meals are available to those that are considered home bound, elderly, disabled, and to those that need short term meal assistance due to a recent surgery and/or in need of a meal delivered to their home.
• Meals are prepared daily by St. Luke’s Hospital Dietary Department and delivered by volunteers.

The Smithville Meals on Wheels Program requires an application form filled out stating the need for meals and for diet specifications for the recipient.

Paying for Meals on Wheels

• Your Meals on Wheels invoice will be sent out the 1st of each month for the previous month.
• Payments are due by the 20th of each month.
• If you cannot make your payment by the due date, please call 816-532-3897 to make payment arrangements and avoid meals being discontinued. If you need assistance paying for your meals you may apply for help with Clay County Senior Services.
• To cancel a meal, the City requires notice by 9:00 AM of the meal delivery day. To cancel, please call 816-532-3897. If you do not call, you will be charged for that day’s meal.

Volunteering for Meals on Wheels

The Meals on Wheels Program is made possible through the dedicated service of our community volunteers. Opportunities are available to volunteer as a regular driver or as a substitute.
