Project Updates
- Church and Mill Watermain Replacement: Staff met with Foster Construction on Tuesday for a preconstruction meeting to review the watermain replacement schedule on Church and Mill Streets. All dates remain tentative and subject to weather and unforeseen construction issues.
- This week: The fence at 110 Smithville (along Mill St.) is expected to be moved.
- Week of September 8: The contractor will complete utility locates and saw-cut Main St. (at the Mill St. intersection where the new watermain ties in), as well as portions of Mill St. and Church St.
- Week of September 15: Church St. and Mill St. will be closed to through traffic. Residents on Mill St. and the funeral home will maintain access. Property owners will be notified.
- Work will begin at the Main/Mill intersection, which will be closed for a few days. Once the watermain work is complete, the intersection will be backfilled and reopened with a temporary gravel surface. Permanent asphalt repairs will take place after City Hall’s sewer line is repaired, so the intersection will remain gravel until mid-October. This will allow both cuts on Main St. to be repaired at the same time.
- Commercial Ave Sidewalk: The contractor originally awarded the Commercial Avenue Pedestrian Project informed the City they are ceasing operations and will not be able to complete the work. The City is coordinating with the bond company, and MoDOT to select a new contractor. Additional updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
- Water Treatment Plant Improvements: ongoing
- 144th Pump Station and West Bypass project: construction began on June 2, work in progress along 144th St near the pump station.
- Sidewalk Replacement Program (Harborview): in progress. Anticipated completion: Fall 2025
- Diamond Crest Park Parking Lot: delayed due to water leak
- Basin Maintenance Program: implementation began last month
- Street Maintenance Program: Awarded to Asphaltic Surfaces. Location: Commercial Avenue (From 92 HWY to Meadow St). Work has been rescheduled for Spring 2026.
