Mayor Damien Boley elected as President of Missouri Municipal League

The City of Smithville is proud to share some exciting news! During the Missouri Municipal League’s annual conference this week in St. Charles, Mayor Damien Boley was elected President of the Missouri Municipal League for the coming year.

At the same conference, Mayor Boley had the honor of presenting Ward 1 Alderman Dan Hartman with his Certified Municipal Official designation. This recognition is earned through the Municipal Governance Institute, a training program created by the MML Board of Directors. To achieve certification, municipal officials must complete at least 16 credit hours of specialized training designed to support success in municipal leadership and administration. Ward 2 Alderman Melissa Wilson and Ward 3 Alderman Marvin Atkins have also achieved this designation through MML.

The Missouri Municipal League (MML) is a statewide, nonprofit association governed by a Board of Directors that includes 17 members with at least one Board member from each Congressional District in Missouri.

MML was organized in 1934 and now serves nearly 650 cities as the recognized voice for municipalities in Missouri.  This voluntary membership program brings officials of cities and towns together in fellowship of public service that strengthens and guides local government in a progressive, responsible fashion. The primary purpose of the League is to promote understanding of municipal government and administration in Missouri and thereby advance the welfare of the people of this state.
