This intersection will remain closed to through traffic during the project; however, access will be maintained for residents and businesses. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in November, weather permitting. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in November, weather permitting.
- Commercial Ave Sidewalk: The City of Smithville has been coordinating over the past several weeks with MoDOT and the previous contractor’s surety bond company to select a new contractor for the Commercial Avenue Pedestrian Improvements project.
The surety company has proposed a replacement contractor, Selby Excavating LLC. The City will host a pre-construction meeting on Tuesday, 10/21. That same evening, the Board of Aldermen will consider an agreement with the surety company. If approved, the new contractor plans to begin construction as early as Wednesday. However, it may take a few days for them to mobilize materials and equipment.
We anticipate traffic impacts along Commercial Avenue beginning as early as next week or the following week. We will share more details as soon as we receive information from the new contractor. - Water Treatment Plant Improvements: New carbon and Lime feeders installed. New valves and actuators installed. Filter pipe gallery painted. Ross construction inspected the under drain on filter #1. It was determined that it needs a full replacement. We are currently waiting on pricing.
