Notice to Customers Regarding the Penny Shortage

Dear Customers,

Due to the shortage of pennies in circulation, we may not be able to provide exact change for all cash transactions.

To help keep our checkout process running smoothly, all cash totals will be rounded up to the nearest 5 cents. Therefore, a credit of 1 to 4 cents will be applied to the customer’s utility account for the difference.  If your utility bill is $185.23 and you are paying with cash, we will collect $185.25 and the customer will have a credit of 2 cents towards their next bill.

No rounding will be applied to check, ACH or card payments.

The City is actively monitoring Missouri House Bill 2819, which addresses the current penny shortage, and will implement any necessary changes upon its effective date.
