OK Railroad Trail Groundbreaking
Yesterday, we officially broke ground on the OK Railroad Trail, marking the beginning of construction on a project identified as a top priority in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Staff was successful at securing funding through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program (RTP), allowing this important community project to move forward.
OK Railroad Trail – Phase I includes the rehabilitation of 2,230 linear feet of a 10‑foot‑wide concrete trail, along with an adjacent 4‑foot‑wide lime‑screen running trail. Planned amenities include two benches, a water bottle filling station, a pedestrian counter, trail signage, landscaping, and two butterfly gardens, enhancing accessibility, recreation, and environmental stewardship.
This project is funded in part by the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), a federally funded assistance program authorized by the U.S. Congress through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), enacted as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
