Incredible Milestone Robert Matthews!
As we celebrate National Public Works Week, we also celebrate an incredible milestone for someone who has truly dedicated his life to serving the City of Smithville.
After an amazing 51 combined years of service to our community, Robert Matthews is officially retiring from the City. Robert spent 44 years in Public Works and 7 years as a Police Officer, leaving a lasting impact on Smithville through decades of hard work, commitment, and dedication.
From the streets and infrastructure that keep our city moving, to serving and protecting our community, Robert has been part of the backbone of Smithville for generations. His knowledge, work ethic, and willingness to serve will never be forgotten.
During National Public Works Week, it feels especially fitting to recognize someone who truly embodies what it means to be “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community.”
And while most people retire to relax, Robert’s retirement plan apparently includes continuing to work at the lumber yard... because after 51 years of working, slowing down just isn’t really his style. 😄
Thank you, Robert, for your decades of dedication to the City of Smithville and its residents. We wish you nothing but happiness, good health, and maybe at least a little time to relax in retirement. You’ve more than earned it!
Please join us in congratulating Robert on his retirement and thanking him for his years of service to our community! 🎉👏
