The Board took the following actions on Tuesday evening:
- Held a Public Hearing pertaining to the 2026 Property Tax Levy
- Approved the September 1, 2026, Board of Aldermen Work Session Minutes
- Approved the September 1, 2026, Board of Aldermen Regular Session Minutes
- Approved the Financial Report for August 2026
- Approved a Resolution authorizing renewal of an agreement with Janet Terry and Chris Dunkin for Camp Host services at Smith’s Fork Campground
- Approved a Resolution authorizing BG Consultants to conduct a site-specific survey for Smith’s Fork Park.
- Approved a Resolution approving a water and wastewater leak adjustment request for Daniel Halferty in the amount of $91.73.
- Approved a Resolution issuing a Temporary Liquor License to Grassroots Garden Lounge for Festi-Ville to be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
- Approved a Resolution issuing a Temporary Liquor License to Gizmos Tavern for Festi-Ville to be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
- Approved on second reading an Ordinance annexing certain adjacent territory into the City of Smithville, MO.
- Approved on first and second reading an Ordinance fixing the annual rate of levy on all taxable property within the City of Smithville, Missouri, for the year 2026 Pursuant to 67.110 RSMo.
- Approved on first and second reading an Ordinance authorizing and directing the Mayor to execute the FY2027 Missouri Blue Shield Grant Program Award Agreement with the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
- Amended Bill No. 3132-26, Rezoning and Conceptual Plan for Smithville Plaza Apartments, for Planning & Zoning to further review the density and parking of the proposed development.
- Approved a Resolution awarding Bid No. 26-11 for audit services to Forvis Mazars as the City’s official audit firm for an initial term of three years, with additional one-year renewal option.

The City of Smithville is hosting a series of Community Conversations: Your City, Up Close sessions designed to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at City operations and facilities. The first session will feature a tour of the City’s water and wastewater facilities. Participants will learn how these systems work, how they are funded, and have opportunities to ask questions along the way. The session will be held on October 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Transportation will be provided for the tours. Advance registration is required, and participation is limited on a first-come, first-served basis. Maintenance Updates
- Parks
- Replaced two broken hydrants at the campground
- Cleaned out clogged sewer hookup at the campground
- Changed blades on three zero turns
- Mowed Cross Country course for Wednesday meet
- Closed Splash Park for the season
- Cleaned gutters on park maintenance building
- Dug out a 30’x9’ street patch on Highland Ave and used approx.10 tons of asphalt to make the repair.
- Patched potholes at Church and Smith St intersection and Old Jefferson Hwy near dog park.
- Installed last 48-inch stop sign and 2-stop ahead signs on 180th St.
- Used approx. 7 yards of dirt to fill in around sidewalk at Wildflower Pond.
- Took down flags from Downtown area and returned them to American Legion.
- Removed 40 foot of culvert on 144th St that was washing out and replaced it with 40’ of HP storm pipe and approx. 20 tons of ½ inch clean rock and 10 tons of AB3. As well as approx. 15 tons of recycled concrete rip rap.
- Removed a dead deer from Eagle Pkwy just north of Eagle Heights Elementary.
- Replaced Chevron sign at Eagle Pkwy and Old Jefferson that was damaged in a car accident.
- Trimmed tree on Surrey Ct for a report a concern of a tree covering a stop sign.
- Replaced tarp on dump truck 107.
- Dropped truck 102 off at American Equipment to have bed and plow parts switched over to new truck.
- Inspected storm drainpipe at 312 Fletched Dr for possible damage, no damage was found.
- Utilities
- Total Drinking Water Production 7,367,000 gal.
- Completed all testing required at the WTP.
- Staff completed ground maintenance at WTP and Water Towers.
- Conducted weekly chemical level checks at the WTP for ordering.
- Backwashed filters 1,2,3,4 and 5 at the WTP.
- Completed grounds maintenance at the WTP.
- Completed painting handrails and transfer pumps at the WTP.
- Completed 14 work orders
- 50 locates completed
- Completed 3 new water connections.
- Treated 4,721,000 gallons of wastewater
- Completed all testing required at WWTP
- Staff completed ground maintenance at WWTP/ Lift Stations
- Completed weekly checks of all booster station and towers in the distribution system.
- Collected and delivered 2 E-coli samples to the KCMO laboratory.
- Changed out 15 radio transmitters for the automatic meter read system.
- Staff repaired the fire hydrant at 605 Quincy.
- Completed a full detain on the truck going to auction for Enterprise.
- Completed monthly meter reads and re-reads.
- Staff reported to a high temp alarm at Rollins Landing Lift Station. Reset and tested pump it is now working properly.
- A private lift station at 1500 169 Highway was overflowing. Staff pumped down the station and cleaned the site with the Vac trailer.
